Assistant Director (Day Care)

Position Overview

An important program at many of our Family Shelters is the Day Care/Early Learn program to help children who are impacted by homelessness.† As Assistant Director (Day Care), you will play an important role in helping the children at one of our sites continue to learn and develop despite the hardships encountered by their families.† Youíll work closely with the Education Director in the overall planning and execution of our on-site child care program, with specific responsibility for managing, supervising, and directing the Family Services, Nutrition, and Maintenance areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting strong parent relationships by overseeing the intake process, establishment of parent committee, parent orientation, parent meetings, and trainings.

  • Assisting the Education Director to ensure the site is compliant in Health and Safety in the classrooms, kitchen, and all areas of the facility.

  • Holding regular team meetings and providing supervision for staff in Family Services, Nutrition, and Maintenance.

  • Ensuring that facility lighting, water temperature, and air quality are at proper levels and that equipment and classroom furniture are well-maintained in safe condition.

  • Ensuring that staff maintain appropriate records for your areas of responsibility including intake files, inventory, checklists, etc.

Requirements

  • Masterís Degree in Education or a Masterís study plan required

  • NYS Teacher Certification or in the process of attaining required

  • Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft applications, required
