Maintenance Technician 2

Site/Program: Newark Genesis Apartments
Location: Newark, NJ

What Youíll Do

As a Maintenance Tech 2 with HELP USA, youíll be part of the team that keeps one of our affordable housing communities clean and safe at all times.  Youíll diagnose problems and make repairs to ensure that work orders are completed and repairs are made on a timely basis.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosing and repairing problems in HVAC, boilers, electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, hardware accessories, masonry, sheetrock, tile, painting and wallpaper, waste management systems, etc.

  • Assisting in process of making vacant apartments rent-ready and performing turnkey work as required.

  • Maintaining high customer service standards and responding quickly to resident requests to minimize and resolve problems and complaints.

  • Assisting in supervision and development of new and current maintenance team members.

Youíre a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Valid US Driverís license.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to read and write English and communicate effectively in writing and orally.

  • Ability to do basic calculations and analysis such as estimation and calculation of averages and percentages.

  • Ability to use general maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment such as hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, blowers, painting equipment, chemicals, snow and ice removal equipment, refrigerant tools and recovery equipment, landscaping equipment, etc.

  • Ability to lift and move 60 pounds, work in confined spaces, and work at heights over 8 feet.

It would be helpful (but not required) if you:

  • 2+ years of experience in maintenance/building trades, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boilers, carpentry, sheetrock, tile, etc.

  • CFC refrigerant transition and recovery/609 Certification
